Efficient handlign and transport of wind turbine parts

Port of entry and exit for wind turbine parts

For a number of years, Port of Hanstholm has served as a port of entry and exit for wind turbine parts for the world's largest wind turbines in the National Test Center for Large Wind Turbines in Østerild. The port holds great potential for offshore wind and is working hard to develop its facilities for marshalling and create a powerhouse for O&M.

O&M Base

The Port of Hanstholm is strategically located for both existing offshore wind farms and future offshore wind projects in the North Sea. This makes the port an obvious choice for the operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms, where good areas provide the opportunity to establish an O&M (Operations & Maintenance) centre on quayside facilities.

Today, the port serves as a base port for a number of service vessels for offshore wind farms, and has access to all necessary facilities to operate an efficient service hub:

  • Storage facilities
  • Office and meeting facilities
  • Shipyard
  • Pilotage
  • Coastal rescue service
  • Supply of shore power, water etc.
  • Conference and accommodation facilities
  • International airport (Aalborg Airport)

Marshalling

For a number of years, Port of Hanstholm has been used as a port of entry and exit for wind turbine parts for the world's largest wind turbines at the National Test Center for Large Wind Turbines in Østerild.

Port of Hanstholm offers optimal conditions for efficient handling and transportation of wind turbine parts, with large commercial areas dedicated to storage, assembly and pre-assembly of large wind turbine components.

With quick and easy access to both land and sea transportation, smooth and fast project execution and logistics are ensured. Local service providers are on hand with services such as crane lifting, equipment installation, mooring and provisioning.

Facilities

With suitable areas and skilled service companies combined with a function as a port of call for some of the world's largest wind turbine parts, the Port of Hanstholm offers good conditions for offshore O&M.

The Port of Hanstholm offers good opportunities for calling at and handling large vessels and heavy goods. One example is the port's new basin with a water depth of 10.5 meters and a 350-metre quay.

At and around the Port of Hanstholm, a large number of service companies can provide service to offshore vessels.
