The leading fish auction in Denmark

Hanstholm Fish Auction plays a central role in selling fish to the large network of buyers in Hanstholm who sell the fish to the entire European market.

The auction is among the largest in Europe and sells both fish landed locally in Hanstholm and fish brought in from Norwegian landing sites.

Hanstholm Seafood Center
Five refrigerated auction halls offer landing facilities for fish for consumption in an unbroken cold chain. When a fishing vessel docks at Quay in Hanstholm to land its catch, the fresh fish is quickly unloaded - either via one of the port's two collection centers or directly into the auction halls. When the auction is over, the raw materials immediately leave Hanstholm Seafood Center via modern logistics refrigeration locks for trucks

Two flexible collection centers
Port of Hanstholm houses two collection centers, which are responsible for first-class sorting of fish by species, size and quality. This helps ensure that the fish are presented uniformly and can achieve a good market price at auction and in further sales. The collection centers are ready to receive freshly landed fish quickly and efficiently around the clock.

Effective Box washing

At Port of Hanstholm , fish box washing is handled by Hanstholm Fishermen's Association in collaboration with Pack & Sea.

Pack & Sea quickly delivers empty and cleaned fish boxes to ships after unloading and also offers storage of fish boxes and tubs in warehouses.

Trawling - laying out and handling fishing gear

Handling of trawls and other gear is primarily done on the 'trawl bridge' at the bottom of Basin 3 (Quay 35). Larger vessels can also use quay 21 and 31, and smaller vessels can use the ridge at the end of Pier 5. Gear must be clearly marked with vessel number and date and may be left for a maximum of one week.

Industrial vessels with a draught of more than 7 meters can also place gear on Quay 18/81 with a recommendation for immediate pick-up. If this is not possible, the gear should be placed as far towards the quayside as possible, as trucks often drive on the quay.

In any case, it is prohibited to place tools etc. on unloading docks (quay 38, 41 and 43).
