Cruise Fredericia is ready for a record breaking 2019 cruise season
Fredericia, the small city with the huge potential, is ready for a record breaking 2019 cruise season including a maiden call by Disney Cruise Line, which has included the historical city in their Disney Magic Europe Tour.
The cruise destination of Fredericia is not among the most well-known hot spots for cruise ships like the capital city of Copenhagen or other larger metropolitan cities in the Baltic Region. In spite of that, the small historical and authentic city of Fredericia can look into a 2019 record breaking season with 20 cruise calls.
In the past three years, we have continued to break our own record in the number of cruise calls to Fredericia and our success will continue in the years to come. This year Fredericia is welcoming ten maiden calls from several cruise lines including P&O Cruises, Phoenix Reisen, Hapag-Lloyd, Marella Cruises and Disney Cruise Line.
This years’ cruise season starts April 1st with a call from Viking Sky and ends with a call from Arcadia from P&O Cruises on Christmas Eve December 24. This years’ 20 cruise calls will bring 24,500 guests and 10,400 crew members to the city.
A gateway to many of Denmark’s most fascinating historical sites
The destination of Fredericia appeals to target audiences of all segments.
Fredericia is a small city with a unique history, authenticity and courtesy which appeal to the international cruise guests. The town has Northern Europe's most well-preserved ramparts but also perpendicular streets and historical monuments, and together with the surrounding world-famous tourist attractions like Hans Christian Andersen’s childhood home, old historic castles, Viking experiences, LEGOLAND® and three UNESCO attractions, it makes the scene for a unique visit to the city.
The guests can also stay in Fredericia and enjoy the calm and relaxing atmosphere, take a walk at the ramparts or enjoy an excellent meal at the Michelin Star restaurant Ti Trin Ned at the waterfront.
Disney Cruise Line to visit Fredericia in 2019
On August 16 Disney Magic will call Fredericia for a first-time visit to Fredericia.
Disney Cruise Line are very impressed by the wide range of fantastic experiences for their guests to do, both in and around the city. Moreover, the port is safe and efficient for their operations.
“The fact that Disney Cruise Line has chosen to call our port in Fredericia, is a big honor”, says Cruise Manager at Cruise Fredericia, Line Tange and continues, “Over the years, we have had visits from many different cruise lines but never one from Disney Cruise Line. Being a destination with so many family-oriented attractions, it only seems natural to welcome the many Disney cruise guests”, she states.
Excellent ratings from the cruise guests
The destination of Fredericia has gained top-ratings from several cruise lines during 2018.
“When it comes to central docking near the town on guest satisfaction, Fredericia has been ranked as number 2 out of 218 destinations worldwide. And when it comes to guest satisfaction for the welcoming ceremony on the cruise quay, Fredericia was ranked 17th out of 218 destinations worldwide”, says Cruise Manager Line Tange.
“It is fantastic, that our small destination gets that high rankings, taking into account that we are not a “must see” capital city. This tells me, that our hard work to make a visit in Fredericia an authentic and unforgettable experience really pays off with high guest satisfaction”, says Line Tange.
With the very positive ratings from the cruise guests and positive reviews from the cruise lines, we know that our cruise destination is attractive. We have a strong focus on the development of authentic experiences for the guests as well as improvements of our welcoming facilities.
In 2019 we will launch a new “drop off” shuttle train, which will transfer the cruise guests from the quay to the city center. This will be an extra service for our cruise quests, which they can buy at a low fixed price.
“Many of our guests chose to walk the short distance from the cruise quay to the city center, but for those, who prefer to take a shuttle train, this will now be an extra service for our guests, which they can buy at a low price”, says Line Tange.
With some interesting order intakes for the seasons of 2020 and 2021 we already now look into the development of new activities and guided tours around Fredericia for our guests.
In 2021 Denmark will host the biggest sport event in the world – The Grand Départ and two more stages of the 2021 edition of the Tour de France. On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July 2021 the three stages will pass along the beautiful Danish landscape. The third stage will be approx. 170-kilometre route from Vejle to Sønderborg on 4th of July near Fredericia.
Attending the Tour de France as a spectator with the opportunity to see the best professional cyclists in the world would make a visit to Fredericia even more authentic and non-forgettable.
Cruise Fredericia will work on making the largest sporting event in the world as a scene for a unique visit to the town and as a sneak-peak into the world-famous Danish cycling culture.
The sales team of Cruise Fredericia attends the world's largest cruise fair, Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami April 9 – 11 2019 in order to promote the destination of Fredericia.
